My Thoughts on Processed Foods
When I first started learning about real food, I only found a handful of Real Food blogs out there. I’m sure there were many more, but I only Google’d “Real Food”. The first blog that came up was 100 Days of Real Food. So I read her blog for hours and absorbed as much information as I possibly could. One thing I liked about Lisa’s blog was that she bought packaged foods from discount big box stores and she also purchased the store brands. To me at least, this made her not only real, but relatable. This was important to me as I was brand new to the Real Food way of eating. …
Real Food Pork Fried Rice
I had a strange day today schedule wise. Because of that, I had dinner at 2:00 in the afternoon, so at about 9:00 pm tonight, I heard my tummy growl a bit. I made a huge pork roast on Tuesday night and The Stud Muffin and I have been eating that for the last 4 nights. You can get several meals per roast which makes large roasts one of my more favorite things to buy, despite the initial sticker shock. I live about 4 miles from a quaint little red farmhouse that serves as the retail store for a local pig farm. So when I have a hankering for a nice roast, I…
Real Food Strawberry Lemonade
Earlier in the week we had the heat on. I was even wearing long sleeves to bed. Over an 18-hour period we went from the low 40s to 99 degrees. Talk about insanity. That heat wave got me to thinking that it’s just about lemonade season and if it’s one thing you need to know about me, besides the fact that I believe that bacon is the answer to every question, it’s that I looove lemons. This means I love lemonade. I can’t get enough of the stuff. Each summer before I started learning about GMOs and Real Food I used to buy several containers of Minute Maid frozen concentrated lemonade. That stuff…
Soft & Chewy Peanut Butter Cookies
Several months ago I posted my “Not Half Bad Peanut Butter Cookies” recipe. Being that I’m not a peanut butter cookie fan, yet I am a huge fan or peanut butter, I felt those cookies really weren’t half bad. After experimenting with some new recipes, I have to tell you, that these cookies are spectacular, seriously good, kinda-almost-rolled-my-eyes-when-I-took-a-bite scrumptious. Amen, Holy Mary, The End, Good Night! <—– I have no idea where all that came from, but we’re gonna just move right on past it. Stop the rubber necking folks, it’s just an accident. Ya see ’em every day. It happens to the best of us. I have been using my original PB…
Organic Beef Stock
I’ve shared my chicken stock recipe, and I felt it was high time to share with you how to make a decent beef stock. You won’t realize how flavorless and watered down a can or carton of beef stock is until you make your own from scratch using the highest quality ingredients you can find. I generally make at least 1 chicken stock recipe per month. Sometimes two. And 1 beef stock recipe per month. You’ll be surprised just how easy it is to make your own stock. You’ll wonder why you didn’t make it sooner!
Chicken Potpies with Herbes de Provence
Today seemed like a good day to get my French on, and share my chicken pot pie recipe with you! Everyone needs a solid chicken potpie recipe in his or her arsenal and this is one such recipe. What makes it special and a little out of the ordinary, (and a little French) is the addition of Herebs de Provence in the Velouté.
