Real Food Girl BBQ Spice Rub

I’ve got some sad news my friends. It’s so sad I actually cried.  It could possibly be hormones, but we’ll just play along and say it is because of sadness. After years of tinkering I finally created what The Stud Muffin and I felt was my best BBQ Spice Rub. That stuff was Da Bomb!  I slapped that rub on chicken, ribs, pork chops, and that meat was happy! Heck, WE were happy. Happiness all around. Happy meat, happy wife, happy life. And life was BBQ’y and good and happy.  Then, one day, I decided it was time to organize my desk and purge papers and things I’d had for years that were…

    Real Food Enchilada Sauce

I love to spoil you guys. I really do.  Case in point; tomorrow for 30-Minute Monday I’m sharing my Beef and Bean Enchilada recipe.  But in order to have it fit into the 30-minute time frame, you guys would have to use a powdered enchilada mix.  Which, if you can find one that is truly nothing but organic spices, that’s not a bad thing, but making one from scratch always seems like a better idea to me.  In order for you guys to be able to make the enchiladas, I wanted you to have my Real Food Enchilada Sauce recipe. YAY!! And, if I don’t get this posted before Monday, you’ll have to…

    Pan-Fried Cumin-Cayenne Tilapia

Today’s dish is one of our favorites.  I know. I say that a lot, but it really is true. We have so many favorites and I keep testing new recipes that we don’t always get to eat our favorites as often as we’d like.  Whenever I do make this dish, The Stud Muffin is a happy man. Tilapia is one of the few fish that TSM likes. I enjoy fish a lot. I’d eat many other kinds if I knew he’d enjoy them, but he’s picky about his fish.  I want fish in our diets, so Tilapia is one of the fish that we eat and enjoy. I’ve done a fair amount of…

    Real Food Tex-Mex Pasta Bake

I had a tough time naming this dish.   It looks like a Goulash, but not only is it not Hungarian, it’s also not a stew.  My grandmother used to make something similar to this using elbow macaroni, a can of  Campbell’sā„¢  Tomato soup, and a can of Chicken Gumbo along with some ground beef.  It’s tasty, but that old standby needed some new life breathed into it.  Hence how this dish was born.  I took one of my grandpa’s favorite dishes and I breathed new life into it. I finally decided on Tex-Mex because the dish has Southwestern, American and Mexican components to it.  And to give this dish even more of an…
