Day 9 Real Food Girl Whole30

Welcome to our crazy Whole30 Challenge. Where The Stud Muffin, and I get back to eating healthful, Real, and nutrient dense foods, plus eliminate all inflammation causing food groups for 30 days to see just exactly which foods are hindering us on our quest for optimal health and wellness!  We’re going from 80/20 to 100%, folks. And it’s about to get real up in here!!

Here we are! Day #9. 

There is a Whole30 Timeline that lays out day by day, how you MAY be expected to feel.  Days 4-5 most people feel like this: KILL ALL THE THINGS. 

That wasn’t true for me. However it was true for me on days 8 and 9.  I’m not even kidding. Everything TSM said, how he breathed, how he looked at me, how he didn’t look at me, how he walked, how the dogs breathed, how they licked their paws, how the cat meowed, how a loud truck drove down the street too loudly, how a fly buzzed too buzzily. It all made me crazy. At one point I was like “SILENCE!! I KILL YOU!! 

It’s possible that Whole30 will bring out your inner Achmed the Dead Terrorist for a couple of days.  I’m sorry for that. It will pass. Just ask your spouse and kids for extra grace and go hide in your closet or something. Or get a massage– that is if you think the masseuse won’t end up doing something that will make you want to throat punch them. 😉

That’s right. I just vegetated on the couch all day long. I stayed away from anyone and everything that could set me off, because I wasn’t enjoying being crabby and I didn’t want it to get worse. So I took a mental health day on my couch and was about as worthless as the “g” in lasagna! 🙂

I also didn’t beat myself up about it. What good would that do? My body is experiencing major changes, which means my brain is also, I’ve completely cut out ALL grains, corn, peas, legumes, dairy, sugar, honey, fake sweeteners, etc. etc. I’m allowed to have an off day or two and just live the slug life on my couch. And you are too! 

Now that we’ve gotten some of the ugly out of the way, let’s chat about some more positive things.  Shall we? 

Some Changes I’ve Noticed

Here is a list of some changes I’ve noticed since starting this journey. This list is not all inclusive. It’s just what my brain can remember at the moment.

  • I am sleeping deeper
  • I am getting tired earlier in the night, like a normal person, not a night owl
  • My skin looks radiant, and more clear
  • My pants are looser- most can be taken off without even unzipping. 
  • My bra is also looser.  Why must the lovely lady lumps be the first to shrink when we lose weight? Seriously not fair. 
  • I have much more energy
  • I have stamina
  • I no longer have sugar crashes, and my cravings have all but disappeared
  • I haven’t had heartburn in 7 days
  • My short term memory is slowly improving
  • I’m having some changes with my cycle, so I believe my hormones are balancing
  • Food tastes better
  • I find myself eating to fuel my body
  • I haven’t been to the kitchen to grab a snack while I watch TV in a week

Those are all great NSV (non-scale victories) in my opinion. I’m pleased with my results so far and the fact that I’ve stuck with it, because it’s not easy and it’s a bit of extra work to pull this off. 

Today was pretty much leftovers for each meal. Except dinner. We had roasted veggies, a large salad and Easy Herb Baked Chicken.
